"5 Tips for Choosing the Perfect Wedding Venue in the Sacramento Area"

"5 Tips for Choosing the Perfect Wedding Venue in the Sacramento Area"

When it comes to planning your wedding, one of the most important decisions you'll make is choosing the perfect venue. The venue sets the tone for your entire wedding, and it's where you'll exchange your vows, have your reception, and celebrate with your loved ones. With so many options to choose from, it can be overwhelming to find the right venue for your big day. Here are 5 tips to help you choose the perfect wedding venue in the Sacramento area:

  1. Determine your budget: Before you start looking at venues, it's important to have a clear idea of your budget. This will help narrow down your options and ensure that you don't fall in love with a venue that is out of your price range.

  2. Consider the size of your wedding: You'll want to choose a venue that can accommodate all of your guests comfortably. Consider the number of people you plan to invite and the type of reception you want to have (sit-down dinner, cocktail party, etc.) to determine the size of the venue you need.

  3. Think about the location: Is there a specific location in the Sacramento area that is meaningful to you and your partner? Or, do you want to choose a venue that is convenient for your guests to get to? Consider these factors when selecting a venue.

  4. Look for flexibility: You'll want to choose a venue that is flexible and can accommodate any changes or requests you may have. Look for a venue that offers different packages and options, and that is willing to work with you to make your vision a reality.

  5. Don't forget the little details: Consider the little details when choosing a venue, like parking and accessibility, lighting and sound, and catering options. These details can all make a big difference on your wedding day.

By considering these tips, you can find the perfect wedding venue in the Sacramento area that will make your big day truly special and memorable.

Alexis & Sid Wedding

LOVE STORY:

How did you two meet?

Sid and I met through my roommate Erik after I moved to San Francisco for nursing school. The very first time we met he had come over to hang out with Erik and I offered him a homemade wine cooler, specially crafted from Trader Joe’s two buck chuck. Needless to say, he was not impressed. After that, we became friends, followed by a blurry more than friends period and then a weekend away in Tahoe marked the beginning of “okay, we’re doing this.”

How did he propose?

It was a Friday. After work, we decided to visit a local winery up the road from our house, Wright Station. We purchased a bottle of wine and sat out on the large patio for a little wine tasting. I started to get a little antsy and said we should go somewhere else. Sid firmly disagreed, which in retrospect makes perfect sense. So, I said, "Fine. Let's go walk around." There was a gazebo down in the vineyard so we started to wind our way through the grapes to get there. Sid jokes that in the moments right before a man proposes, to anyone who might be watching, it looks like the man is about to murder the woman -- crazy eyes, grim features, leading the woman to a secluded place. However, I am happy to report that this was not the case in that moment. Instead, I turned around and found Sid down on one knee. He proposed and I was ecstatic. I started dancing around like a crazy person. So happy. I'm smiling even now as I write this.

Where and When will you be getting married?

WEDDING TALK:

How was the process planning your wedding?

Generally, pretty smooth. My mom and sister are very crafty and painstakingly detail-oriented. The hardest part is finding your vendors (especially if you're on a tight budget) and working with people's schedule and requirements, then the rest is just tedious -- address collection, save the dates, invitations and so on. The last month is pretty easy-- so there's definitely a light at the end of the tunnel.

Any Tips or Tricks for Brides who just got engaged?

Hire a day of coordinator-- It's a must have. Also, if you don't want to go on your honeymoon right after you get married, book a mini-honeymoon after the ceremony so you can enjoy things with your partner, recover, de-stress and digest everything before you have to go back to your normal routine.

Why did you choose Captured Cupid for photo &/or Video Services?

Affordable, especially considering the quality of the product. I loved the videos from previous weddings and the enthusiasm that Kevin had for capturing our wedding day. Also, there was a willingness to work with us on the budget and customize a plan that would incorporate footage for different wedding week events.

Were you happy with the service you received from Captured Cupid?

Absolutely. They went above and beyond what I had expected of them. Seriously. They came up a full extra day to get footage of our big pre-wedding 4th of July BBQ, the local parade, and then they stayed late to get shots of the fireworks! And then! After the wedding was over, they came up to Nevada City to get time lapse shots of the stars over our venue. Unbelievable. I mean this in the best possible way, but Kevin totally geeked out on our wedding with the new camera and it was awesome!

Kendra & Jason Wedding

LOVE STORY:

How did you two meet?

We actually matched on a dating app! Never thought either of us would say that. We met face-to-face for the first time at one of our now favorite breweries, and the rest was history. He actually tried to call his mom on the way home from our first date and called me on accident instead… That made for a great story. When you know, you know. J

How did he propose?

So we got engaged 5 months into dating! Again, never thought either of us would say that. We took our first beach trip with his family. One lazy morning when we were hanging in our sweats (no makeup, hadn’t even brushed my hair!), he wanted to show me the surf spot that he and his dad had been going to since he was a little boy. As we walked the trail, my new flip flops hurt so he let me wear his big floppy sandals- I’m telling you, we were a sight. We stopped for a picture, and after asking a nearby couple to take it, he got down on one knee. You can see my surprise in the photos! It was the perfect parallel for our whirlwind relationship – caught me completely off-guard, and I wouldn’t trade that for anything.

Where and When will you be getting married?

We got married Saturday July 7th, at Empire Mine State Park in Grass Valley, California. Grass Valley was where he grew up- his parents actually held the rehearsal party at his childhood home just down the street!

WEDDING TALK:

How was the process planning your wedding?

It takes a village! We both work full-time and I am in nurse practitioner school full-time as well as being maid of honor and a bridesmaid in 2 other weddings that year, so it was a little wild! There were many details I had to delegate to Jason or my mother-in-law because there just weren’t enough hours in the day, and I am so glad I did. Jason and I were going for a relaxed vibe, so we focused on choosing vendors we would want as friends. That ended up being the best decision we made because they made us comfortable throughout the process!

Any Tips or Tricks for Brides who just got engaged?

Breathe, girl. Don’t take anything or yourself too seriously! If you can, try to secure your big vendors early, put your focus into the details YOU are passionate about, and the more little details you let go of, the more you’re going to enjoy the day and the season overall. Most of my best friends had rain on their wedding days- every one of their marriages is incredibly happy. The day will be perfect no matter what.

Also, put more focus into your marriage than your wedding- one is going to be around WAY longer. Make the effort to connect with your hubby- date nights, premarital counseling, happy hours with no wedding talk- even if you feel overwhelmed, you need this time and you’ll appreciate it when you look back.

Why did you choose Captured Cupid for photo &/or Video Services?

We saw Captured Cupid’s work online, and were absolutely blown away by his talent in other wedding videos. We then got a chance to facetime and “meet” him, and he’s one of the most kind and helpful people we worked with throughout the process. The entire process, it felt like we were working with a long-time friend.

Were you happy with the service you received from Captured Cupid?

Absolutely cannot respond with a more resounding “YES”! Jason is a sportscaster who edits, shoots, and produces video on a daily basis. That naturally sets the bar pretty high! Captured Cupid exceeded every expectation we could have had for a wedding videographer. After seeing his creative style, we gave Captured Cupid complete free reign to add music/touches that spoke to him, and were truly blown away by the finished product. And on the day of the wedding, even in the chaos and distractions, it was clear to both Jason and I and our families how respectful, hard-working and helpful he was throughout every step. There were times he even kept me calm, and even our other vendors complimented him on his hard work! We are so thankful we found Captured Cupid and could not recommend Kevin enough. You will be SO grateful you went with him.

WEDDING TALK:

How was the process planning your wedding?

Utterly exhausting. I live in DC, and doing the bi-coastal planning with vendors, and my family was absolutely horrendous. I am so incredibly thankful for my family. I couldn't do this without them.

Any Tips or Tricks for Brides who just got engaged?

YES! ENJOY your first few months of engagement, when it's really just you two with nothing hanging over your head. We started planning a month after we got engaged and that is really time I won't get back. Whether it's traveling, camping, having copious happy hours just you two, or sleeping in, just enjoy your time while you're engaged.

It got really good reviews on thumbtack, unfortunately, I had nothing else to go on.

Were you happy with the service you received from Captured Cupid?

I have yet to see the highlights video, but the original teaser came out great. I'm upset we didn't get to use our drone, but that wasn't Captured Cupid's fault. Kevin and his team were very professional and kind throughout the wedding, and we barely noticed them there. Some of the shots we thought were awkward, but they ended up coming out AMAZING in the teaser video. They OBVIOUSLY know what they're doing. I'm very excited for the highlights video.

How did you two meet?

We both swiped right! :) Neither of us ever expected to find something special on a dating app, but we’re both so glad that we did!

How did he propose?

While on vacation we decided to spend the day at Lake Alpine, which is a beautiful and quiet lake tucked away in the mountains. We found a rock to sit on to take a break from exploring and that’s when Phil proposed! It was very personal, just the two of us, and definitely a moment that I will always cherish.

WEDDING TALK:

How was the process planning your wedding?

Since Phil and I live in Texas, we had to do long-distance wedding planning! Planning from far away forced me to stay extremely organized and I planned everything far in advance just in case there were any hiccups. I couldn’t have done it without all of my amazing and equally-organized venders and thankfully my parents live in Folsom so they were able to help a lot.

Any Tips or Tricks for Brides who just got engaged?

Try to plan ahead and don’t leave anything to the last minute. The last month or so before your wedding is filled with showers, parties, and excitement. The more you have done, the more you will be able to enjoy that special time.

CC ?’s and Answers:

Why did you choose Captured Cupid for photo &/or Video Services?

Phil and I spent a lot of time researching different videographers and getting quotes from different companies. Kevin from Captured Cupid was the only one who wanted to speak with me over the phone, which I really appreciated. After chatting over the phone for awhile, I immediately felt at ease from his laid back and friendly personality. He easily worked with my budget and I felt that we were on the same page after our initial phone conversation. After weeding through a dozen emails from different videographers, his customer service stood out to me so Captured Cupid was an easy pick for us!

Were you happy with the service you received from Captured Cupid?

We are SO happy with the service from Captured Cupid!!! In the months leading up to the wedding I would routinely check in with all of my venders. But Kevin ALWAYS beat me to it! He called me a couple of times just to go over all of the details and make sure nothing had changed. I can’t express how much this meant to me as a stressed out bride juggling a hundred different things. Then on our wedding day Kevin and his team were awesome! Extremely friendly and professional.  I could tell that they weren’t just there to do their job-they were passionate and motivated to get the best footage possible. But what meant the most happened the day after the wedding when Phil and I were sitting in the airport on the way to our honeymoon. I received a text from Kevin saying that he had already put together a highlight video for us. We must have watched the video at least 20 times in that terminal, both overwhelmed with joy seeing our special day come to life through such beautiful footage. We can’t say enough good things about Kevin and his team and would highly recommend them!

LOVE STORY: (Bride's answers)

How did you two meet?

We met in medical school, he was from the Bay Area, I returned back to the area after going away for undergrad and grad school. The first week of med school we had lots of orientations and he always caught my eye, and I found myself trying to be around him. We sat near each other in classes and soon shared friends and started studying together. He asked me out a few months into the first year, and the support of a partner who is going through the rigors of the program was an amazing bonding point.

How did he propose?

I was a figure skater growing up, and I LOVE Christmas- so he planned a vacation to the Olympic Village in Tahoe the week before Christmas, took me up to the ice rink, and proposed as family looked on and recorded it all! It was snowing, it was perfection.

Where and When will you be getting married?

We continued our Christmas / Winter theme, got married a year later in Sacramento at the end of December. It was important to us both to have the ceremony in a church, but we definitely wanted an amazing reception, and what actually came of that day was far and beyond our dreams.

WEDDING TALK

How was the process planning your wedding?

It was a rather rapid process for me, I had 6 months to plan it, and being a Resident Physician made it all that more challenging. I had days I would walk the hospital halls calling DJ's, video chatting with the planners, and endless endless emails. I relied on my almost sister in law quite a bit, she went to a lot of appts with me, and was my voice of reason a lot of the time ('do I want cupcakes? should I do my hair like this?'). It was actually a true joy, my heart was so full of excitement and love that the process was a representation of.  I had tons of ideas from pinterest in various boards, and it was so satisfying to see them come together. I worked with amazing people from the florist to venue coordinators, it made the planning really enjoyable and personal.

Any Tips or Tricks for Brides who just got engaged?

Work with good-hearted people. I enjoyed the process and trusted the planning because the people I worked with were amazing, kind, hard working. They were all people I would see myself having dinner with.

Save pictures of everything you like, reflex- just save it all every time you see something. Then, go through your pictures and you'll see a pattern of what you tend to like... this is your theme! It is as easy as that!

Why did you choose Captured Cupid for photo &/or Video Services?

I yelp searched for videographers, Kevin came up, among others, and I just started to call people. Again, I am a personal feeler, so I had to have the connection to someone to work with them... which needless to say I had instantly with Kevin. He was easy to talk to, kind, invested and willing to work with my needs. He was always responsive to emails and calls, I felt very comfortable trusting this huge task to him.

Were you happy with the service you received from Captured Cupid?

Absolutely! He was so easy to work with the day of, fun to have around, and was as excited as were!!! That investment made his work so personal and phenomenal, he captured us the way I want to always remember that day!
